Stunning ballet performances coming to Ipswich in the New Year
The celebrated Varna International Ballet and Orchestra returns to Ipswich Regent Theatre in January 2025.
The company will be performing three beloved classics at the Suffolk theatre, with each one a treat for ballet novices and balletomanes alike.
The tour starts on January 23 with Romeo and Juliet - Shakespeare’s tale of primal passion and timeless tragedy, brought to life by Prokofiev’s soaring score. An emotionally-charged and unmissable ballet.
Then on January 24, they present the Swan Lake, a compelling tale of tragic romance featuring Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable music. Well-known and well-loved, this is often considered the greatest romantic ballet of all time.
Finally, on January 25, we are swept away to a fairy-tale world where toy dolls spring to life and nothing is quite as it seems. Fantasy favourite, The Nutcracker, is perfect for all the family and, with that in mind, the company will perform two shows, one at 2.30pm and one at 7.30pm.
Though they are keen to point out that all ages can enjoy all three productions.
Founded in 1947 and renowned for its award-winning soloists and magnificent corps de ballet, Varna International Ballet has been delighting audiences for decades - both at home in Bulgaria and abroad - with performances of the highest quality.
Their 2025 tour begins in Manchester on January 2, and visits Buxton, Bristol, Liverpool, Blackpool, Edinburgh, Basingstoke, Ipswich, Southend, Brighton, Nottingham, Reading, Oxford, Darlington, Wimbledon, Norwich, Hull, Sheffield, Leicester and, finally, Northampton, where it finishes on March 5.
