Cabaret : The Kit Kat Club

If you are looking for an all-immersive theatre experience, Cabaret is the show for you.

One of the most successful musicals of all time, this new production at the London Playhouse has won a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards and welcomes you to the Kat Kat Club from the moment you step through the door.

This is Berlin. Relax. Loosen up. Be yourself. The Schnapps on the way in will help.

Indeed, by the time you reach the bar, occasionally occupied by gyrating dancers, you will be fully invested and ready for the main act.

You may have seen the film and know the story…

Set against the backdrop of the Jazz Age in Berlin, as the Nazi Party grows stronger, young American writer, Clifford Bradshaw, travels to the city to work on a new novel. He takes a room at the boarding house of Fräulein Schneider and visits the Kit Kat Club where he meets English singer, Sally Bowles. The two end up living together and after some time, Sally reveals that she is pregnant. What follows is an emotional tale of love, persecution and survival for both the couple and their friends.

You’ll certainly know the songs: Wilkommen, Don’t Tell Mama, Mein Herr, Maybe This Time, Money and, of course, the title number Cabaret.

If you are not fan of the movie, don’t worry - this is so much better. Being up close and personal transports you to a time and place where entertainment is guaranteed, but be prepared to be touched too (emotionally, I mean).

Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters) and Rebecca Lucy Taylor (Self Esteem) currently star as Emcee and Sally Bowles, alongside Nathan Ives-Moiba as Clifford Bradshaw.

Note: this is one of the few times that it is worth booking the expensive tickets - with food, stage-side table and flowing champagne - so you can truly feel transported to a seedy club in Berlin.

Cabaret at The Kit Kat Club is currently booking for 2025.
